Artist Vasily Pochitsky was born in Rechitsa, Belarus in 1967. He studied art in Rechitsa Art School for five years. He began his career as a freelance artist in 1987 when he had his first personal exhibition in Rechitsa Art Gallery. In 1990 Vasily went to Moscow where he exhibited his paintings in Mars Art Gallery and following this a series of graphic work was sold at a Sothebys auction. His paintings can currently be found among private collections of Modern Art in Russia, Belarus, Israel, Poland Germany, England and Ireland. In 1993 Vasily accepted an invitation from Vita Nova Art Gallery in Minsk, Belarus and ever since he has been living and working in Minsk City.

Together with painting Vasily actively participated in developing the cultural life of the city of Minsk organizing such events as, Alternative Film Festival - Unknown cinematography of Uri Gagarin, The Annual Cosmonautic Day Art Festival in Minsk Planetarium, Cosmic Models Art Performance Shows in the night clubs of Minsk and St. Petersburg. He was also instrumental in bringing to the stage the touring play Conquering Space with Bambuki Theatre group, which he co-wrote, directed and acted in as well as being the set designer.


His most significant Art events in recent years areDecember 1999 January 2000 Dr Kleins Herbarium a personal exhibition of paintings and sculpture in the Museum of History and Culture of Belarus, Minsk.

November December 2000 Dr. Kleins Magic Eye a personal exhibition of paintings, graphic works and sculpture in the Museum of History and Culture of Belarus, Minsk

April May 2001 Black Wind - White Land a Cross-Cultural Exhibition of Modern Art in the United Nations Plaza in New York. This exhibition was also displayed in Dublin, Ireland during the Spring of 2002

May 2002 Dr. Kleins Gambling Games a personal exhibition of paintings, sculpture and graphic works in the Museum of History and Culture of Belarus, Minsk
Vasily is currently creating a new collection of works Uboga, the style of which he determines as New Art, which he hopes to exhibit at the end of autumn/early winter 2005.
